Baby Must Haves - Clothing And Accessories

By Carol McGill

While bringing a baby into the world is a joyful journey, most people also face a great deal of stress. There is nothing better than the feeling that comes when a mother is cradling her precious baby in her arms or when a father passes out photos of his infant to family and friends. On the other hand, there is also nothing comparable to the stress of worrying if all will be OK and that the family is ready to handle the arrival of such a delicate new member.

New parents often fall victim to entering the world of babyhood without a proper wardrobe awaiting their infant. In the months and weeks before the due date of a mother, parents are busy preparing for the arrival of their baby. They set up the crib in the baby room. They bring home needed items, such as a changing table, walker, and playpen. Also, how can we forget the very important clothing for baby? The issue surfaces when parents (most often the mother) will concentrate on buying the baby outfits that bring "ooos" and "ahhs," but forget all about the basic essentials.

You can never have enough cotton bodysuits, soft baby blankets, bibs, and baby booties that are vital for every new parent. It is important to remember that babies make a mess just because they don't know any better. With all of the adorable features and cute gestures, they are highly prone to a bit of drooling, slobbering, and ejecting spittle. We don't even want to mention all of the waste they produce for the initial year of their life. These actions mean they will soil their clothing without warning. This takes place so much that parents often find themselves changing the clothing of their baby almost just as much as they change diapers.

There is nothing more sensible that making sure you have a never-ending supply of "onesies" suits, baby T-shirts, and cotton blankets set aside for cleaning messes. It is suggested to purchase plenty, but not too many that you have an enormous collection of baby items that no longer fit your infant. A recommended approach is to have at least five soil-free outfits to place on your baby at any one time. Packing extra outfits when traveling with the baby never hurt anyone. There is a definite need to have plenty of hygienic backups. Many parents also find out that they will complete more loads of laundry, but this is only to be expected when you bring home a new bundle of joy.

The trendy and adorable outfits for a baby are great when you are taking your little one to see their aunt or when making an appearance at Sunday mass, but just remember that the chances are great that as soon as you put the finishing touches on the baby suit bowtie or fluff the ruffles of the satin pink dress, your little one may create a mess all over the outfit. As you plan and get ready for the arrival of your new baby, lessen the number of cute outfits you bring home and keep the essentials in mind. While it is your duty to make sure you are truly prepared, baby shower guests can help you out with adding cute items to your baby's wardrobe.

Organic Cotton Baby Clothes-Benefits Every Parent Should Know

By Alma Newton

Organic cotton baby clothes are a hot item with retailers of all kinds these days. They're so hot, in fact, that mega-giant Wal-Mart now carries a line of organic baby clothing and layette items in its stores.

Though the organic cotton baby clothes trend is extremely popular with apparel makers and retailers, many parents are confused because they simply don't understand how the term organic relates to cotton and baby clothes. Too, parents often believe that the term is simply made up to con them into believing there's something special about the baby clothes when there probably isn't. Many of them will pass on buying organic baby clothes, blankets, and such-and thus miss the many benefits that their children could get from wearing them.

So when looking at organic cotton baby clothes it's good to have some background. For example, organic cotton is grown chiefly in India under strict regulations and in fields that are chemical-free. Organic means that something is grown in a chemical-free environment. Organic cotton growers take that further by ensuring that the fields have not chemicals or pesticides of any type used for a minimum of three years. This is heavily regulated and is highly watched to ensure that organic cotton is exactly what it claims to be.

By comparison, ordinary cotton is grown in places that aren't as particular about where the cotton is grown. It is also grown using high levels of pesticides and chemicals that is imbibed by the cotton as it grows. As there are far fewer restrictions in place for conventionally grown cotton, there's no way of knowing just how much chemical pesticides are really being used.

These pesticides are generally petroleum-based and have many serious side effects, and these chemicals do stay in the cotton. The chemicals left in the cotton are thought by experts to have the potential cause everything from allergic reactions to asthma to even cancer. Add to that the fact that manufacturers also often add dyes to the cotton which offer additional chemical reactions, and you have a serious problem.

Baby clothes made from organic cotton eliminate all health issues that can come from traditionally grown cotton. To make organic cotton baby clothes an even healthier choice, many have nickel-free snaps or buttons made from nuts, which are hypoallergenic, further ensure that the baby clothes are the safest possible clothing for children to wear.

Organic cotton also protects our environment. It also protects water quality and the health of people who work growing it and manufacturing it. So purchasing organic cotton baby clothes, blankets, bedding, etc., means that you not only protect your child, you also have a hand in making the whole world a little safer place to live.

Alma Newton is mother of four and grandmother of three, and takes great pleasure in offering you the very best of the organic cotton bedding, clothing and cloth diapering that she can find. By Frank Woods

Despite the fact that the child will outgrow the garments in very little time, well to do parent love to purchase fashionable items designed by the likes of Christian Dior, Kimora Lee, and others for their child who is completely unaware of the facts of fashion world.

Every year the top designers unveil their latest fashion creations for the little people of the world and fortunately today's infant have everything from their bonnets to booties fashionable. Keeping in mind the delicate skin of the infant and the toddlers the top fashion houses produce body suits, bibs, booties, and bonnets that are soft to the touch, beautiful to behold, cost many times more than the typical Kmart baby outfit and gentle to the skin in contact.

Perhaps the best known line of designer wear for infants comes from Christian Dior that includes items like the sweet 100% cotton Dior baby body suit with pink or blue snaps, the Dior teddy bear logo on the chest. One of the latest names in the world of designer baby clothes is that of famed photographer Anne Geddes. Getting inspired by the popularity of her famous photos of babies dressed up as bumble bees, ladybugs, sunflowers, and rosebuds, Geddes ultimately launched "annegeddesbaby," a line of clothing for infants. Such designer baby clothes will allow parents to dress their newborns as, well, bumble bees, ladybugs, sunflowers, and rosebuds. Another designer guru Russell Simmons an American entrepreneur, the co-founder, with Rick Rubin of the pioneering hip-hop label Def Jam, founder of another label, Russell Simon's Music Groups, and creator of the clothing fashion line Phat Farm. Baby Phat is an urban fashion line of clothing and other items especially for women and girls designed by Kimora Lee Simmons wife of Russell Simmons and creative director of Baby Phat. It is a sibling of the clothing brand Phat Farm that uses a sleek cat as the brand logo and also includes accessories for phones, jewelry, shoes and clothes.

Baby Clothes Basics - Needs and Proper Care

By Paul J Easton

If you are a first time parent to-be, there are numerous tasks that must be accomplished before your new baby's arrival. One important, and fun "labor of love" is purchasing baby clothing. However, with such a large selection of baby clothing, you may be asking yourself which of these adorable little items are essentials. This is crucial information to know, as well as their proper care.

Onesies

"Onesies" are basically baby t-shirts and are a necessary baby clothing purchase. To keep the onesie from creeping up and exposing your baby's belly, most onesies have easy close snaps. They can be worn alone or as an undergarment. Onesies, also known as rompers, come in basic white, colored or patterned varieties. For your basics, you should have between 5 to 10 onesies.

Sleepers

Sleepers are one-piece items with long legs and long or short sleeves. They usually have snaps down the legs for easy accessibility for late night diaper changes.

When preparing your basics, you should have between 5 to 8 baby sleepers. These are necessary as it is recommended that a newborn not sleep with thick blankets. This could inadvertently cause suffocation. The best material for both your baby's warmth and comfort are cotton or fleece sleepers.

Baby Socks

For your baby's requirements, you should purchase between 6 to 8 pairs of baby socks. Although socks are not required in warmer weather, they should be worn if taking your little one outside in chilly temperatures. They are also indispensable at night if your baby is wearing a sleeper without feet.

Baby socks are made of either thick or thin weaves. You should purchase a combination of both, as thin socks are better if your baby is to wear shoes.

Hats

Hats are baby clothing essentials for your little bundle. When taking care of your newborn, it is important to keep them adequately warm. Newborns often have difficulty regulating their body temperature and much of their heat escapes through their head.

It is recommended that your newborn wear a hat through his or her first month of life. After that, it is not as important unless you are taking them outside on a chilly or cold day. For this purpose, you should have 1 or 2 fairly snug, hats for your baby.

Proper Care for Baby Clothing

When caring for baby clothing, there are two schools of thought. The first is that your little bundle of joy's clothes should be washed in special detergents to alleviate the risk of skin allergies. There are numerous varieties of mild laundry soaps that are scent and dye-free. Many of these detergents are aimed at the baby market, such as Dreft that boasts "A gentle clean. Just for baby".

The other school of thought does not believe that "gentle" laundry soaps are required for baby clothing. If your baby's skin does not react adversely to certain detergents, then a special detergent is not necessary.

Stain Removal

Your bundle of pink or blue will not think twice about staining their cutest outfits. Certain formulas, baby food and stains caused by leaking diapers are often difficult to remove from baby clothing. If pretreated before washing, some of the most stubborn stains can be eliminated, leaving the clothing both clean and in pristine condition. One tried and true stain remover is Oxi-Clean. You may want to "audition" or try different stain removers to find the one best suited for your laundry needs.

Wash New Clothes Before Wear

Before dressing your baby in new clothes, it is essential that you wash them first. Although baby clothing may look fresh and clean on department store hangers, many have come into contact with dirt, little four legged creatures and bugs during the shipping and packaging process.

Minor skin irritations may occur from sizing placed on many pieces of baby clothing. Sizing is used to keep items looking nice until they are purchased.

Getting prepared for your little one's new arrival is both a joyous and stressful time. Knowing what baby clothing is essential in your little one's layette and how to properly care for their clothing is one of the many tasks that lay before you. Knowledge is power and being prepared is half the battle.

Use Common Sense When Shopping For Baby Girl Dresses

By Meg M

Anyone who has a baby girl dreams of their little angel in a gorgeous frilly baby dress. After all the dresses look so adorable! Before you go and lay down a small fortune on a wardrobe full of baby girl dresses take some time and consider the child.

There are so many baby girl dresses available that it can make your head spin and it can be a real challenge to find the right kind of baby girl dress for your little girl. Considering the style and the beauty of a baby dress is only a small part of choosing a great baby dress for your little girl. You should consider comfort and durability as well. No matter how cute a little girl’s dress is, it won't make up for an unhappy or uncomfortable child.

A lot of baby girl dresses do not take the comfort of the child into consideration. The dresses for babies may be enchanting to the adult eye but they are not enchanting to a baby girl's sensitive skin. Rough and or stiff fabrics that do not move with the child can lead to an unhappy ordeal. If the fabrics on the baby girl dresses feel rough to your skin, they will feel even rougher on your baby's soft skin.

Stiff lace and tight elastic will leave tell tale signs that the baby dress is uncomfortable. You will most likely see markings and indentations on your child's skin when she wears some styles of baby girl dresses. Those uncomfortable factors can be searched for while you shop for baby dresses. Check all around the arms, the neck and waistband for elastic or lace that might be too tight or too stiff. This is just a good practice to always keep in mind when you shop for baby girl dresses.

Many parents learn this lesson the hard way. They hastily go out and buy the most charming baby girl dress that they can find. They never give the baby girl's comfort any thought. They put their baby girl into this charming dress and then they wonder why she struggles, cries, and won't sit still. This scenario usually happens when you have put the frilly baby girl dress on your child for a special occasion. Such as picture taking, weddings, birthdays, etc. What was supposed to be a special occasion turns into an uncomfortable situation for everyone.

So if you must, go ahead and buy the most beautiful baby girl dresses that you can find. Maybe you can get a cute picture for the photo album. Just realize that your baby probably won't feel the same about the fancy baby girl dresses as you do.

Baby Clothes

By William Brister

Baby shopping is fun and you want to buy all those cute and adorable little outfits that you see in shops. But it is imperative to think wisely and buy only those things that you will definitely need. Lets take a look at the essential clothing the baby will require from his birth up till the time he is a few months old.

The first thing to remember is that a baby’s skin is soft and sensitive and harsh and rough seams may cause itching, burning and discomfort. Thus, for everyday wear, it is recommended that you choose soft, roomy durable clothes, which though may tend to be more expensive than less well made clothes, are safer and better for your baby’s comfort. Also, the more durable they are, the more they will last and the fewer you will have to buy. Always buy slightly bigger sizes as babies tend to grow really fast.

One-piece outfits
These are convenient and comfortable for both you and the baby. Once you have popped this outfit on the baby, you are done with the hassle of adjusting while the baby is free to wiggle and wave his limbs easily. For ease and comfort look for jumpers that have a snap button down the front or on the inside of the leg. These are especially good for a crawling baby. The snaps should hold and close well and ensure that the outfit opens at the bottom for easy diaper change.

Shirts and leggings
Cotton T-shirts and turtlenecks with snaps at the neck allow the garment to slip easily over your child's head. Undershirts form an extra layer to keep the baby warm. The one-piece style that snaps at the crotch is popular baby wear. Separate legging or pants allow you to change one piece of dirty clothing without putting on a whole new outfit. Stretchy material fits best over a baby's big belly and tends to be more comfortable.

Cardigans, sweaters and sweatshirts
Button-up or zippered sweaters and sweatshirts are more popular because they're easy to put on and take off. Often children do not like their heads to be shoved in through narrow neck holes. Buying bigger sized sweaters with loose armholes and zippers or snap buttons makes more sense.

Fleece jackets
The best way to keep your baby warm and protect him from the cold is to make him wear fleece. It comes in a variety of styles, from one-piece suits for babies to jackets for older children. These are also available with hoods to protect the head and the ears from cold winds.

Hats and mittens
In the summer you will require a broad-brimmed sun hat to protect the baby from sunstroke and in winter, one that covers the ears well from the cold. Some hats have a string at the bottom to tie under the chin ensuring that they stay on the baby’s head. Mittens for babies are shaped like bags with a drawstring at the bottom, making them much easier to get on and off the little hands.

Socks, booties and shoes
You'll need socks for the indoors and booties that can be tightly tied for outdoor wear. Typically babies only start wearing shoes after the age of one. Some paediatricians recommend waiting until your child can walk steadily, as shoes can interfere with their motor development. Shoes should be bought from a specialized children’s store as it will enable you to get good advice on which shoes are most comfortable, what size to buy, and whether the shoe allows adequate room for growth. Until your baby's walking well, cover his feet with socks or booties that hold firm and prevent the baby from slipping.

Finding Unique Baby Clothing

By Michelle Bery

Something happens to us when we become parents; normally considered level-headed, we are suddenly thrust into a world where only the best will do. Those of us who said we would never buy this, never do that, never say this – are forced to eat our words. We are out among the other moms and dads, buying the biggest and the best. And when it comes to dressing our babies, there is a no holds barred quest to find the perfect outfits – those that combine comfort with a style that fits our little one’s personality.

Today’s retail outlets offer a large variety of baby clothes that comfortably fit our babies and our wallets. But when it comes to finding unique baby clothing, it may be necessary to venture outside the parameters of the conventional retail store. There are a number of different ways in which you can find unique baby clothing that looks great, feels comfortable, and doesn’t break the bank.

First and foremost, boutique stores generally offer unique baby clothing that you’re not likely to find in the average retail store. While this tends to be the priciest option for purchasing unique baby clothing, there are ways around the expense. Try to shop at the end of the season when clothing is offered at a discounted price. You can buy one size up for the following year and save yourself quite a bit of money.

Secondly, you may want to check out some high-end children consignment shops in your area for unique baby clothing. The higher end stores only accept gently used clothing for sale in their store. You can find beautiful, unique pieces at less than half the price you would have spent purchasing them new.

Finally, the Internet can be your most valuable resource in finding unique baby clothing. There are a multitude of online stores that offer really special pieces of clothing that you will not find anywhere else. You will generally find a much larger selection online then you will find in stores with limited shelving space. And the prices are usually less expensive as well. Plus, there is the added convenience of shopping from your living room.

Unique baby clothing is not out of reach – no matter what your budget. Be creative and look for ways to find beautiful, special clothing at a price that works for you.

Baby Clothing - The Newest Way to Make a Statement

By Jennifer Davis

One of the best parts of being a parent to be is shopping for all of the baby clothing. It's even more fun when you know the sex of the baby, so you aren't limited to neutral colors like green. Baby furniture is also fun to buy, but since it's so expensive you can run out of money before you're done shopping for what you need. I've seen cribs that cost thousands of dollars, changing tables for about as much and don't even get me started on the nursing chairs! Still, there's something about the miniature versions of all of the things that we use every day that kind of warms my heart.

Take, for example, the little baby tee shirts that they sell at those baby clothing stores. Nowadays you can get them to say just about anything. There are websites that will sell you political baby tee shirts that say "if I were old enough, I'd vote for John McCain in 2008" or have other cute things on them. If you prefer your baby to look like a miniature version of yourself, they have full suits for little boys and gowns for the baby girls. If you like Tommy Hilfiger, your baby can wear it all of the time. Ditto for Ralph Lauren and most other brands.

The cool thing about baby clothing is how detailed it can get. From tiny tennis shoes to denim pants and jackets, they really are little versions of big people clothes. Everyone loves buying kids miniature outfits that they would wear themselves, and there's something about seeing a little kid in grown up clothes that makes one's heart smile. The only drawback is that it can really add up and a shopping spree for Junior can cost just as much as a shopping spree for mommy.

Preparing For The Birth Of A Baby - Essential Baby Clothes

By Roy Thomsitt

If you are expecting a baby in the next few months, the chances are you will have started planning for some of her important things, if not doing them and buying them already. Her crib may be chosen; her nursery may be painted and decorated; you may have some beautiful bedding to match the baby decor of her room; and you may have bought a few gorgeous newborn outfits with which to adorn your newborn.

However, there may be a whole host of things you have not really thought of seriously, especially if you are a first time parent. It is so tempting to focus on the pretty things, and forget, or not learn of, the practical ones. So, when it comes to baby clothes, leave all the cute outfits to the baby shower guests, and concentrate for a while on the things you will really need. After all, you do not want your baby to be caught with her diapers down!

Having a baby is a combination of joy and stress for most people, and I suppose that is true of most major events in our lives. There is nothing to compare to the pleasure and happiness that a mother feels when she holds her new baby for those first few days after the birth; or the father showing off pictures of the baby to his friends and family.

Unfortunately, there is also nothing quite like the stress in worrying that everything is going to be all right on the night, or day, as the case may be. To reduce the chance of those stresses taking over, and to ensure that the family is properly prepared for their joyous new addition, it is as well to get organised with the practical things for the baby layette. Let the person who is to organise the baby shower sort out all that side of things, while you ensure all the most practical items are in place by month 7 of the pregnancy.

New parents quite often fall into the trap of being unprepared when it comes to suitable clothing for their baby. So, here are some of the essentials you will need to complete your preparation for the baby's arrival:

1. Cotton bodysuits, absorbent baby blankets, bibs, and baby booties are items that a new parent can never have enough of. Babies, God Bless them, are messy little things sometimes. For all the cuteness and adorability that they possess, they do dribble, slobber, vomit and overfill their diapers with some of their profuse outputs, and they are like that for about the first year or so of their lives. As such, their clothes do get messy quickly and often; so be prepared, and be practical. A mum may find herself changing her baby’s clothing almost as often as she changes her diaper – sometimes more.

2. The best plan is to stock up on the practical things such as “onesies” suits, baby tees, and mess-cleaning cotton blankets so that you always have plenty on hand. Buy these practical items in abundance, but not so many that you’ll quickly be stuck with a pile of baby items that no longer fit the baby. It is a good idea to have at least five clean outfits at any time; that is clean items, and not awaiting the next wash. If you are going out on a long outing, you will need to pack extra, so always make sure that you have plenty of clean backups. Do not underestimate your little baby's ability to take your laundry load to record levels, unlike anything you have seen before if you are a first time parent.

The cute and adorable baby outfits, and the stores are stuffed full of those, are fine for taking baby to church, for visiting grandparents, or for taking family photos. However, be prepared for the baby to make a mess over that precious little outfit. While planning and preparing for the arrival of your new offspring, forego some of the cute outfits so that you can stock up on more of the practical essentials. The guests at the baby shower can provide the cute things, while you ensure that you are truly prepared for the reality of having a bouncing new baby in the house.

Newborn Baby Clothes - Buying Considerations

By Carl DiNello

What could be easier that buying newborn baby clothes? It seems simple enough, that is, until you get to the store and see the incredible variety of clothing available. Baby clothes are big business! There are many manufacturers offering you an almost unlimited number of clothing options. Which clothing does your newborn actually need, and how do you decide what to choose?

Here are some helpful buying considerations to reduce your shopping time, while allowing you more time to enjoy your baby.

When you think about it, newborns don’t really need that much clothing. It will be a while yet before they start crawling around getting dirty. Most of the time you will be dealing with some form of spit up, or leak from a diaper. Your first priority will be to make sure your babies clothes are soft and comfortable; next, look for durability. These priorities do not mean that you will have to choose something functional and boring. There are tons of cute and attractive outfits that will be both comfortable and durable. The only problem will be that your baby will grow so quickly that these outfits may only last for a month or two before being outgrown.

With this quick growth in mind, it is a good idea to purchase outfits that are slightly larger then needed. This will extend the usefulness of the baby clothes by allowing your infant to grow into them. Beware of misleading sizes given on baby clothes. It's not unusual to find an outfit that says 12 months but will fit a two year old, or one that says 6 months that is too small for your newborn! In the store you can do a visual check to see if the clothing you are looking at will fit your baby. At home you can hold the outfit up against the baby’s back, stretch the legs down and see for yourself if it will fit.

While it is safe to say that most baby clothing is pretty soft and comfy, it is a good idea for you to double check. Just run your hand along the inside of sleepers and jumpers to see if you feel any hard sewn seams or any other possible discomfort. Also, make sure to check and see if the clothing is flame retardant. While many countries require this by law, on occasion clothing items surface that are not up to these standards.

Newborns will need mostly sleepwear and onesies (one piece jumpsuits without legs that button in the crotch). When it comes to the onesies, make sure you have numerous pairs as they are possibly the most useful type of baby clothing in existence. Cool in the summer, and ideal under your babies pajamas to help keep baby warm on cold winter nights.

For the first few months you will find sleepers to be very handy. Have plenty of bibs on hand to help you keep up with babies frequent spitting up, and to protect babies outfits. These items alone can carry you through your newborns first 3 months or so.

It won't be easy to resist buying many of the multitude of adorable dresses and coveralls for newborns. However, if your budget is tight, you really only need a couple of these outfits for special occasions. You will have plenty of time to buy all the cute outfits you want once the babies growth slows down a bit, and this clothing can be worn for more than just a few short weeks.

Don't be intimidated by the buying of newborn baby clothes; make it easy on yourself and your baby by going with the minimum at first and....splurge later!

Baby Clothes Care

By Ron Maier Jr.

Yes it is true that baby clothes don't last long with kids growing as fast as they do, but taking care of a babies clothes is still just as, if not more, important. One of the major reasons proper clothing care is so imperative is to protect an infant's skin from irritating substances. Because the household use of many different chemicals has increased in modern society, the sensitivity of human skin has increased, and babies have the most sensitive skin of all. A parent must be sensitive to any foods or substances that their children have allergies or intolerance to. In other ways, caring for children and infant's clothing is similar to adult clothing, but on a much smaller scale.

Powerful detergents are unnecessary even for adults, so it makes sense to buy one detergent that will work for the whole family. By using a mild detergent, all of the clothes will come out just as clean, but without the abundance of irritating substances that can cause problems for a baby's skin. In some circumstances it is better refrain from the use of any detergents at all. Instead soap for sensitive skin and hot water will get clothes clean, but will take more time. There are some "baby" detergents that are marketed to the young parent market as detergents that are better for babies' skin, but there is no real difference from these and other mild detergents. Baby detergents are only another way of marketing to the kid retail industry. When purchasing a mild detergent, parents should look for a substance with no added fragrances or colors.
Once the clothes are washed, drying them as directed should be fine without the use of a fabric softener. The best way to dry infant clothing is on a clothesline, but they should hang in an enclosed area that is not in contact with pollen or insects. It is important for the clothes to be completely dry before they are put away or worn by a child, and hanging the clothes on childrens clothes hangers will help keep their form. Baby clothes hangers and childrens hangers are an important part of clothing storage for kids because small garments tend to gather and lose their form more easily.

New clothes should always be washed before worn. Just like new clothes can be stiff and irritating to adults, new clothes are even worse for infants and small children. The same is true for any type of hand-me-downs. Dust mites and other irritating things can gather on any type of clothing that has been in storage.

Extra care should be taken in any circumstance involving an infant, and clothing care is only one of them. By following these few tips, skin irritation and other problems will be one less thing to worry about, and kids' clothes will stay looking good.

Another Life For Baby And Child Clothing

By Michelle Bery

In those first days after we bring home baby, it's hard to imagine that life will ever be any different than it is right at that very moment; sleepless nights, endless diapers, constant feedings, exhaustion, and, ultimately, unparalleled joy. You can't imagine this tiny baby being any bigger; a person who's able to walk, talk, and get dressed on his own. But grow he does; and before you know it, you're knee deep in baby and child clothing that seemed to fit just that very week and now is hopelessly inadequate.

Keeping up with baby and child clothing is like everything else that has to do with raising kids; it feels like you're always one step behind. Getting new clothes - however expensive - is the easy part. Knowing what to do with the baby and child clothing left behind can be what is tricky. Hand-me-downs are great and if you're able to put away some of the more gently used clothes for your smaller children then it will certainly save you quite a bit of money. But when you're dealing with a youngest or only child, the options are varied.

When in doubt about what do with baby and child clothing, think charity first. There are a great many reputable organizations that vastly appreciate any donations of baby and child clothing. Many of these noble groups deal with families who have very little and clothing - especially baby and child clothing - can make an enormous difference for them. Of course, you can always stay local and identify a family close-by who may appreciate some extra clothing. Additionally, keep in mind that charitable donations are tax deductible at the end of the year.

If you're in need of some extra money yourself, you may consider selling your outgrown baby and child clothing. There are several ways to go about this. First, many people choose to hold periodic yard sales where they offer household items and clothing. This can be a great way to reduce clutter in your home on a frequent basis and make some cash at the same time. Some neighbors even ban together on a yearly basis to organize a large yard sale; baby and child clothing, as you would expect, is a hot commodity. Just be sure that you are offering gently used, stain-free clothing for sale.

Another option for the sale of baby and child clothing is the use of consignment shops. Consignment shops allow you to bring your outgrown baby and child clothing to them, and if they accept it based on factors such as wear-and-tear and cleanliness, then they will offer it for sale in their store. Ultimately, you make a percentage of the sale. Consignment shops even exist online; there are now local stores that will accept and photograph your clothing and then offer it for sale on the Internet. Again, the successful sale of these clothes means cash in your pocket. In the end, your baby and child clothing can be just as special to someone else as it has been to you. Think twice before you condemn it to the trash; consider ways in which you can recycle these outgrown clothes.

Choosing the Right Baby Clothing

By Ken Wilssens

Baby clothing is one of those things that once seemed as whimsical and harmless as taking a long drive through the mountains, and is now potentially fraught with worries over dangers as potentially serious as smog or a head-on collision. Nowadays, if you shop for baby clothing, you can’t just buy the cutest thing on the rack. You have to think about things like safety, age-appropriateness, and issues like gender and culture, not to mention typical issues of social responsibility.

But before you decide to give up and just let your baby go naked, take heart: with just a little forethought, shopping for baby clothing can be a rewarding experience.

Baby Clothing: Safety Concerns

Anything that comes within contact of your child has to be exceptionally safe. Baby clothing is no exception; in fact, you might want to be extra careful since clothing is the one thing that will be on the baby for hours on end, even more than that extra-special toy.

What kind of hazards does baby clothing pose? In the past, children have strangled themselves with the drawstrings on hooded sweatshirts, choked on buttons that were too big and came off too easily, caught their hair and skin in zippers, and gotten burnt with clothing that was too flammable. Scared yet? There’s hope. Read on.

Nowadays, safety is a much easier issue to handle when you shop for your baby, whether you’re buying baby clothing or toys or furniture. Manufacturers already have to obey safety standards, those issued by the government and those set by industry groups.

However, you should still be careful. With so many products, and especially clothing, coming in from all over the world, you cannot be 100% sure that the product meets every safety standard for good manufactured in your locality. Look for some kind of assurance on the label or packaging that the baby clothing is safe. Ironically, the standards for truth in advertising are often more stringent than the standards for safety, so a safety promise on the label really is worth something.

Naturally, you should use your own common sense as well. Are there buttons or other things that can be pulled off the baby clothing to pose a choking hazard? How tightly are they sewed on? Does the clothing fit the baby well, or is there loose fabric that could easily catch on a door or furniture?

Age Appropriate Baby Clothing

As with most baby purchases, the best safety precaution you can take is to buy baby clothing that is age appropriate. The label, tag, or packaging might well have age guidelines. Barring that, you make sure only to buy baby clothing that fits your child perfectly. Don’t tailor down bigger clothing; there is always the chance that is not intended for a younger child in terms of safety.

Gender Issues in Baby Clothing

Do you want your little girl to grow up to be a strong, confident woman who isn’t held down by old-fashioned ideas about a woman’s “place”? Then perhaps you should avoid the pink dress with the embroidered flowers and lace. Naturally, your baby is too young to notice these things. But how you dress your child says a lot about your attitude toward him or her. Start right now on developing the attitude toward your baby that you want your child to have toward him or herself. Buy baby clothing that reflects that attitude.

Baby Clothing

By Victor Thomas

Babies are considered as a gift of God. Nothing equals the pleasure of dressing a child for a mom. Selection of baby clothing is boundless. Most of the parents find it very difficult as well as delicate to choose right clothes for their babies. There are various on-line shops for buying clothes for your babies. You have to make sure that the clothes that you select for your child is the perfect one that will suit them well and in which they are comfortable in.

Various considerations have to be remembered while you go for shopping.

• Babies do not like their clothes being changed often. Choose clothes that are easy to change and simple to put on and remove.

• Attires that widen and have a wide neck are best.

• Clothes that open in front will be easier to wear off.

• Go for clothes with elastic waist bands and skirts or trousers therefore it will easy for you to adjust it.

• Shoulder straps used clothes will be comfortable for both girl as well as boy baby.

• It is not advisable to buy socks with shaped heels. Always prefer branded socks.

• If a dress has more buttons, they may fall off and the baby can swallow them. So be careful while selecting dresses with a lot of buttons.

• When ties may come off often, then you will have to sow them on again. Better to avoid those clothes.

• Avoid lace as the babies can get their fingers wedged in lace.

• Use natural fibre. Cotton is also the best; it is soft on their skin and comfortable.

• Select clothes that do not have rough stitching.

• Go for branded clothes. You can get replacements if needed.

• Avoid clothes which have too many zips, layers or poppers.

• Clothes that do not need ironing are best. Babies grow out of their clothes quickly, so you may not want to buy too many. But you must have sufficient garments so that you do not end up having to wash them repeatedly.

Follow these tips to buy better clothes for your baby. Therefore your baby will look stylish as well as comfortable.

The Gift Of Personalized Baby Clothing

By Michelle Bery

The birth of a baby is a joyful and momentous occasion – one that is shared with family and friends as we unite to welcome this new life. Part of the celebration of birth is often the gathering of loved ones for a baby shower – presenting the parents-to-be with gifts for their new family member. While many gifts are utilitarian in nature – and much needed – such as a car seat, changing table, or stroller, others are more personal in nature. Personalized baby clothing can be a lovely gift for a new baby and a keepsake for many years to come.

Personalized baby clothing can be described as any clothing that is monogrammed with the baby’s initials or full name. For those interested in purchasing personalized baby clothing, there are a great many options from which to choose; you are only limited by your imagination and budget.

Personalized baby clothing for a newborn can include anything from a hat with the baby’s initials sewn into the material to a receiving blanket beautifully stitched with the baby’s full name, birth date, birth time, and birth weight. Not only is this a useful item, but it will stand the test of time as a treasured keepsake for you and, eventually, your grown child.

You may also wish to consider monogrammed shirts, sweaters, towels, socks, diaper bags, even onesies. The more creative you are in your search for personalized baby clothing, the more cherished the gift will be for years to come.

Keep in mind, however, that personalized baby clothing cannot be simply handed down to another child once it has been outgrown; it serves its purpose for one child – albeit a dual purpose as an article of clothing and then as a keepsake item.

You can find personalized baby clothing in a number of different places including clothing boutiques for children. Most often you will choose the item that you want and the personalization will take place according to your instructions. Many times monogramming is free of charge.

The Internet is also a great place to find personalized baby clothing. The prices are usually affordable and the convenience of ordering from home can’t be beat.

Personalized baby clothing can be a wonderful way to welcome a new baby and present the parents with a timeless keepsake.

Shop for Cool Baby Clothing

By Brian Brogan

The range of cool baby clothing is varied, there is so much to choose from, parents or whoever, can choose cool baby clothing from department stores or they can shop at the baby boutiques. Either place will offer a wide range of cool baby clothing.

It is always important to be aware of the material that the baby clothing is made from, ideally it would be better if the clothing was made from hypo-allergenic material but a soft cotton will suffice as well. Whenever people buy cool baby clothing as cute as it looks, practicality and function still have to be uppermost in their minds.

Luckily most designers who wish for their baby clothing to be considered cool, realise this as well, so it should not be hard to find cool baby clothing just about anywhere.

Unfortunately when shopping for the cool baby clothing it is very easy to become carried away and end up purchasing either too many items of clothing or spending way too much. Here are some tips for when you are shopping for cool baby clothing and at the same time keeping a track on the budget as well as the baby.

Make a List It is very easy to get engrossed and lost in shopping for your baby especially with all the cool baby clothing you can find today both online and in specialized baby stores. Therefore it is understandable that many parents end up spending fortunes on baby clothing especially when it is the very first baby in the family. A shopping list will help you focus and also keep track of how many of the same items you have purchased so far thus, helping you greatly with the budget.

Shop Online for Cool Baby Clothing Shopping online excludes the sales person who at times can be influential enough to make you purchase something on impulse when they say something like ‘This is our best selling item’ or ‘This cool baby clothing has just arrived and it is at a great price’. No parent can resist a good deal!

Shopping online is yet another way to help your budget as in the shop most people get carried away with ease by the variety they see available right in front of them and most of the time they give in even if they know it is too expensive and/or they have six similar items already!

Helpful Tips You will also realize that at times having too many clothes for your baby will give you a hard time choosing what clothes to dress your baby in every time. Besides the fact that he or she may not even get a chance to wear the entire cool baby clothing you have purchased as babies grow at a lighting speed. All you can do with their clothes after they have outgrown them is have a garage sale or store them for the times when you will want to bring back memories by opening an old and forgotten wooden chest from the attic.

It is great to splurge on cool baby clothing at times and you should definitely indulge ever so often. However, on a daily basis it would be wise try and keep track of the baby clothes you are buying as your baby grows faster then you know and you will need that money to always be able to buy cool clothing as he or she grows up and when she asks for it!

How To Buy Best Clothes For Babies

Parents are very much confused on purchasing baby clothes. Striking a balance between practical and cute, fashionable and comfortable need and desire, and night and day can all play their part in affecting decisions on what baby clothes to buy, and in what quantity.

Many parents want their baby to be dressed in childish baby clothing. We have to be aware of certain things before we purchase baby clothes. One thing we may forget to notice when buying clothes for baby is where snaps, buttons, etc. are located. We should pay more attention on how comfortable baby is in his clothes.

When you baby clothes advance of the big day when you first become a parent, always try to buy unisex clothes. The clothes you have for your baby to wear around the home should, most of all, be comfortable, easy to access for changing diapers, and simple.

Another important thing to be remembered is that we should wash new baby clothes before dressing our baby in them. Washing first can help prevent skin rashes or irritation for babies with sensitive skin. If you want to buy your baby clothes before the birth try to opt for outfits in bigger sizes. When you are shopping for your baby clothes, remember to keep in mind the season. Focus on some season neutral clothing like onesies and sleepers.

Buying clothes for a growing baby is a bit challenging for many new parents, because none of the sizes printed on the labels correspond to the baby's actual age. Take time to choose the right baby clothing and it will be very much appreciated by both parent and baby.

We are the best online seller for all kings of designer kids clothing. We feel we offer great value, excellent quality, totally fabulous children’s designer clothing and our customers seem to agree, which is marvelous!

Where to Look for Affordable Baby Clothes

Once the newness has worn off a little, you will realize that your baby grows very fast. So fast, in fact, that he may need new clothes on the average of every two months during the first year. The sizing of baby clothes just does not apply to most children. For example, my four month old is now wearing 6-12 month clothes. There is no way he will still be in 6-12 month clothes when he is a year old.

So, we are buying lots of clothes. Unless you know for sure that you are having more kids of the same gender, it does not make sense to drop a lot of cash on designer baby clothes. Sure, they are cute, but can you really afford to spend $25 on a pair of baby pants at Baby Gap when he will need new ones in a month? If you are like me, no, you can’t.

How do we make sure our little ones are stylish for less? We shop the sales. We never buy baby clothes at full price from a store like Baby Gap or Osh Kosh. We also go to outlet stores. Our favorite outlet for baby clothes is Carter’s.

Discount stores also have some good deals on things like one-pieces and baby play clothes that are going to be trashed anyway. You might even check garage sales and local thrift stores for gently used basics. Wash them in hot the first time if the thought of used baby clothes grosses you out. Look on Ebay for deals on special occasion clothing.

Finally, remember that everybody will think your baby is cute whether she is wearing K-Mart or Ralph Lauren baby clothes. The most important thing is to keep your baby safe, healthy, and loved. A happy baby is a beautiful baby!

The Role of Winter Baby Clothing

By Michelle Bery

The joys and subsequent confusion of parenthood begin with the birth of our newborn baby when we – who were previously intelligent adults – now become overwhelmed with even the simplest of decisions. Suddenly, dressing someone smaller than the length of our arm seems too complicated to figure out; it’s a right of passage we must all face. And, luckily for our children, we seem to emerge being able to appropriately clothe them through all stages of development and throughout the seasons.

From newborn onesies to one-piece sleepers, baby clothing, at the core of its design, must successfully merge form with function. But when it comes to winter baby clothing, another level of need is added. Clearly, winter baby clothing must protect babies from the elements while still maintaining its comfort and visual appeal. Winter baby clothing comes in a variety of styles and colors from which to choose. Be sure to keep materials soft and comfortable. And be wary of complicated fasteners that can serve to make dressing a hassle and baby uncomfortable.

When it comes to keeping your baby warm and dry in harsh weather, ultimately the key is the layering of winter baby clothing. Begin with a onesie that provides a first layer of protection and keeps heavier material away from baby’s sensitive skin. Over the onsie, as a second layer of winter baby clothing is the baby’s outfit. Keep it simple; because a heavier layer is still to come for outdoor wear, keep this second layer soft and uncomplicated, such as a one-piece sleeper. If this particular outfit has feet then you can skip the socks; if not, put the baby in warm socks that extend past the ankle.

The final layer of winter baby clothing is that of outdoor wear. A traditional winter coat and gloves may be great for older babies, but for younger babies you’re best to go with a one-piece winter bunting that zips up the front and covers baby’s feet and hands. There is also a hood attached although you still want to be sure to include a hat that fits securely around baby’s ears.

Of course the material and weight of the winter baby clothing that you choose depends largely on the climate in which you live. For snowy regions, a heavier bunting with a moisture retardant outer layer works best. For milder climates, a fleece material may work well during winter months. Be mindful of using too heavy a material then is necessary; it is important that your baby not become overheated.

You can find baby winter clothing in a variety of locations including large retail stores, smaller boutiques, and online through a series of reputable retailers.

Selecting The Perfect Baby Clothing

By Michelle Bery

Having a baby is, by far, the most monumental event in your life. And when it’s your first baby, every feeling – anticipation, excitement, joy, fear – is exacerbated beyond anything you could have imagined. And, in anticipation of this very small person, comes the purchase of very many large things – car seat, bassinet, crib, changing table, etc.; and many small things as well – from diapers and bottles to bibs and pacifiers. For new parents, knowing what’s important to have on hand – and what can wait – is a learning curve. And nothing can be more overwhelming than baby clothing.

The danger of baby clothing lies in its alluring quality. Put simply – it’s so cute you want to buy it all; those tiny shoes, frilly dresses, and miniature suit jackets seem just too darling to pass up and they suck you in like a magnet. But the truth is – especially in the very early days – you don’t need a lot of fancy baby clothes to make it through the day. In fact, when it comes to choosing baby clothing for newborns, simple is better.

Newborn babies require very few styles of baby clothing in those early days at home. Don’t bother with ornate clothing with complicated fastening devices. The truth is the baby’s legs will be bent for some time – having spent all that time in the womb leaves them curled up; which means that getting any sort of intricately designed pants onto a newborn is next to impossible. Additionally, because the baby’s umbilical cord is still attached, anything that rubs against their belly can be irritating. Stick with “baby bags” that feature drawstring bottoms, one piece sleepers, onesies, and receiving blankets. With a newborn, you can never have enough of any of these three articles of clothing. Keep material soft and comfortable. This may be the only time you use the Newborn sizes that you may have purchased. Keep purchases of this size baby clothing - along with sizes 0-3 months baby clothing – to a minimum. Babies grow so very fast during this time that you’ll often be stuck with outfits you never had the chance to use.

Instead, you may want to focus the bulk of your baby clothing purchases on sizes 3-6 months and 6-9 months. Here, you can focus on clothing that baby can move around in with comfort and flexibility. Jumpers and one piece sleepers are great in this capacity and offer room to grow.

The wonderful thing about shopping for baby clothing is that you rarely have to sacrifice form for function. There are many beautiful clothing lines on the market today that successfully blend comfort, safety, and style.

Baby Clothes - Are Baby Boy Clothes Hard to Find?

By Grant Carroll

If you’ve ever gone baby clothes shopping, you may have noticed something peculiar. Often times, the fashions that are available for young girls are much cuter and more varied than for baby boy clothes. There may be a few stores than are an exception to this, but for the most part, little girls clothing always has a better cuteness factor and better selection. Boys get some shirts, maybe a few suits, the basic shorts and jeans, and that’s about it. It's very frustrating when shopping for little one's gifts. It seems that by their very nature, dresses and other girl clothes are simply more diverse, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be this way. Men’s fashions have always been a step below women’s fashions in the designer clothing industry, and this seems to have trickled down to infant clothes.

A designer or major brand name needs to step up and put their efforts into diversifying and strengthening the choices available for little boys apparel. The spending power from the parents is certainly there, but there has to be enough demand from the public. Starting with newborn onesies all the way up to toddler and children apparel, moms and dads that want to see better choices for their little boys need to start demanding it. I would never have realized this had I given birth to a little girl. As I shop for my little infant guy amongst all the clothes for baby girls, though, I can’t ignore the inequality. Someday I know I’ll have a little princess and I’m glad that there will be no deficiency of girl clothing on the market, but I still think there should be a fair share for everyone.

Baby Clothes- Keeping up With Changing Fashions

By Grant Carroll

Baby clothing designs and fashions change just like they do for adults and children, so it’s important to keep up so your infant is looking good when he or she goes out on the town. Unique baby gifts are created every day, too, so if you’re shopping for an infant present you need to know what’s good to buy. When a child is a newborn, the apparel is basically the same and hasn’t changed a great deal over the years. Basic onesies in blue, pink, yellow or green and bonnets or beanies are expected on little ones from zero to three months. After that, you can really start to have fun with dressing up your baby. There are two important parts to following fashion updates with infant apparel. One is you want your little guy or girl’s wardrobe to be cute and up to date, and the other is to watch for any possible recalls.

Once mom and dad start taking their precious pride and joy out to social gatherings, it’s important that the baby looks presentable. Even if the gathering is only a family party or a holiday, pictures are definitely going to be taken, so most mothers insist upon their little one looking his or her best. Designers and manufacturers are coming up with new ideas for colors, pictures and messages that go on everything from pajamas to shirts and sweatpants, so parents need an information source to inform them of what’s new and hot. A good baby clothing info blog can be that resource since it’s constantly updated.

On an important note of safety, sometimes recalls do happen for various reasons. Especially in this age of manufacturing all clothing overseas, sometimes chemicals are used in the making of the apparel that turn out not to be safe. This is when parents take a serious look at organic baby clothes. Again, a quality infant apparel blog is going to keep up with any breaking news and rush to give it to parents.
